Chosen!

In my Heartlight.org article this week, I talk about how precious we are to God and yet often don’t believe what He says about us — that we are “holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (Colossians 1:22). Several questions that I would love input on if you read the article are:

What makes it hard to believe we are this precious to God?

What are ways you remind yourself that you are God’s precious and chosen child?

How can we help each other realize our preciousness to God?

I’d love to get some feedback from you on this below!

  1. For the first question on believing we are precious to God could due to personal experiences in all our lives. For me, I grew up in a family with no love. I went through my life thinking I was worthless and was not worth loving. That’s when I would start to question why does someone love me? Or I didnt know how to be loved.
For the second question about reminding myself that I am His precious is the fact that when I was so scared in my addictions I called out to Him in desperation. I cant stop Lord. I’m scared and I won’t attempt to stop using. Whatever it takes Lord, remove this from me. He knew how to get my attention. I am over three years free from the bondage. No matter what I’ve done against Him, He still freed me.

  2. I had a rather critical earthly father, so I always had low self-esteem and have a very difficult time getting away from the mentality of having to \"perform\" in order to be good enough, but never having enough confidence in my own ability to be able to \"perform\" well enough. That often paralyzes and you end up doing nothing. I am trying to always remind myself, though, that God loves me and believes in me. It\’s a journey that I\’ll always be on.

  3. The enemy who is the great liar throws ideas our way from a young age to fill us with shame. When children feel rejected or are not affirmed by parents they will easily believe lies that they are unimportant and worthless. The belief of lies and not the truth of GOD is what makes it hard to believe we are precious.
I meditate on the words of who I am in CHRIST JESUS such as: The righteousness of GOD in CHRIST(IICOR.5:21) and A New Creature(IICOR.5:17). I speak out loud phrases such as, I am fearfully and wonderfully made and I am lavishly loved by my FATHER. We can help each other realize our preciousness to GOD by listening to and spending time with each other. By listening and spending time with someone we show them they are valuable and loved.

  5. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. He is the source of my strength. Only in Him can we have true joy, peace, freedom from Satan’s lies …. So when my feelings do not match His Truth I pray for his Word to guide me, “Be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”, to refocus on Him and away from the storm(whatever is causing the pain, anxiety, loneliness etc). We cannot trust our emotions. We must face the source and deal with the cause with his help. We must ask Him to help us to be still before him, read his Word and allow the living Word to be our Bread of Life daily, sometimes moment by moment, one day at a time. It is about realizing He spoke the world and creation into being. He raised Jesus from the dead. He is unchanging, new every morning and that same God is alive in us if we have accepted Jesus as our Savior. We can only be whole and complete in Him. His grace is sufficient to see me through and his promises never fail. He will never leave or foresake his children and nothing can seperate me from his love. Let his Truth come alive in your life. I choose to believe and ask God to help me to take action, by faith in him, to seek to know him more and more.

  6. I am finding your message is vitally important for each one of us today. Only His Love for us can carry us through the circumstances of lies and negativity that bombard us daily. May He visit us in the deep places where we need His Holy Touch and His Holy Fire of Love.

Thank you for your messages! Today I needed to be reminded of My Heavenly Father’s Love and Approval.

    Sincerely, Vicki
