Audra, one of the reasons I support Compassion International is that they are monitored, I've been with them to their sites, and they are part of an organization that requires standards and percentages to be at a certain level or they can't be included. They routinely score at the top on all of these categories. To top it off, they work through local churches on the ground to get around much of the corruption and graft that can go on some places with donated funds and items.

I rarely, if ever, give money to organizations that are secular and media based for the reasons you mentioned. Their primary purpose is to make money and garner ratings and this other is more an afterthought rather than their mission.

Please don't let folks like that keep you from being a blessing when there are many good and reputable organizations that help.

It is hard to help when you read things like Idol Gives Back hasn't dispursed a large sum of the money given LAST year. It is difficult to know who, where and when to trust, but God will give clear direction if given the chance.
