Hard Journey In

For today’s post, please see the article in Heartlight.com. The post can be found here.

This morning we heard about the Compassion CSP or Child Survival Program that is a primary force in rescuing pre-born to three year old children by intervening and equipping mothers. This is the program that Phil talked about having saved Doreen, the child the Wares sponsor in Uganda. Below, Phil and a Compassion worker hold the file of the immunizations and medical treatment provided by CSP for Doreen for the time she was between her first birthday and her third birthday.

  1. Dear Phil,

Thank you for sharing your journey and work in Uganda with us. Our prayer is for good physical health for you and that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit as you are Jesus to the people you meet.

    God Bless You,

  3. Man, oh man, I can’t even imagine. I am so glad you were able to meet Doreen, and give her that sweet dolly she was holding (I assume you gave that to her). To see a life so precious, eyes so pure, but a life that seems to sway in the balance. I am grateful for your commitment to Compassion, so we too were able to meet Doreen. Heaps of blessings all over each of you, and those who serve the least of these, and the least of these most of all.

  4. My comments earlier were made before you introduced us to Doreen and her family. I cannot imagine life without hope, or the deep sadness that I would have without Jesus or the hope that something better would ever await me or my children. It must be hard for Doreen’s family to look beyond the physical misery that you have shown us, but we pray for your effectiveness in introducing them to Jesus in a way that is long lasting and fills them with love and hope. We also pray that God will touch our hearts with the needs of these people that God can use us to meet.

  5. You are living my dream, Phil…….When asked, “What do you want to do before you die….”? My answer is. To visit my Compassion child Israel Ermias in Ethiopia !! I know it is a sin, but I am sooo envious of you being able to meet, see, hug, love, touch and all those other joyous things that you are sharing with Doreen & her family. I know that God is going to make a way for me to see Israel, just as you have been able to see Doreen. I have no children of my own by birth. Israel is the child that God has given me. It has been a privilege, honor, blessing, joy (I could go on & on) having him in my life since Nov. 28/03. Receiving a letter from him in my mail box fills me with excitement & a joyous expectation that I cannot describe. If there is anyone reading these comments now that has not yet adopted a Compassion child, I challenge you to “DO IT” now. Don’t wait, hesitate or procrastinate. You will never, ever regret it, I promise you that.

Phil, thanks soo much for sharing your experience with us. I can live my dream (for now !!) thru you. May God continue to bless you & yours.
