Fresh Change
Life’s one uncertainty? Change!
Even sitting still we’re aging, the seasons move on their ordered way, and things around us change. We can’t stop it.
The Holy Spirit within us is working to do more than just change us. God’s Spirit is working to transform us to be like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18). Even more, we believe that God is at work in our lives to bring us good and bring himself glory (Romans 8:28; Philippians 2:13).
I believe God works to bring us fresh opportunity if we will recognize his work in our lives and seize the opportunities he provides. My article entitled “Fresh” talks about how he has done that some in my life. But I’m interested in how he has worked in your life to bring you fresh opportunity, fresh joy, and fresh life. Let’s encourage us by sharing a little bit of your freshness story!
God used a very rough time in my life to first break me then create a time of freshness in my Christian walk. It’s explained more in depth on my personal website on the testimony page: My Testimony
Since the time of my divorce (mentioned in my testimony), God has made Himself fresh in my life and brought me a wonderful new wife who knows what I’ve been through because she’s been through it herself. God put in both our hearts a strong desire to work with our church’s ministry to the separated and divorced, and we work side by side with the leaders who helped us through our own divorces whenever we can. It’s not exactly the mission field I was expecting, but it is so rewarding to be able to give back some of what I have been given.

My “fresh story” actually happened when my mother was diagnosed with cancer back in 1999. When I heard that, I was away from the Lord. I felt abandoned by my previous church and I wanted nothing to do with Christianity. When my mom told me about going to heaven and wanting others in our family to go too, that was a “fresh” light bulb going off in my head. I needed that, and now not only did I re-dedicate my life to the Lord, I also have a passion for God that I never had before. Thank God for praying mothers. You never know what you have until something tough happens. My mother went home to be with the Lord in 2001, but everyday I wake up, I feel she is smiling down at me from heaven because of her legacy of faith and service to the Lord.
