Not So Cold a Case

without comments

I’ve caught myself settling down in front of the TV at the end of a long Sunday the last several weeks. One show that seems to grab me is called Cold Case. I know what attracts me to the show. In one hour, a horrible crime is solved, all the wrongs are righted as much as is humanly possible, and important relationships are given closure and restored when possible.

I live in a much more real world. Most things, espeically hard relationship things and grievous unfair things, often remain unresolved on this side of Jesus’ return. Working with people is a lot like juggling jello. Nothing is really easy and about the time you find your rhythm, everything seems to disolve into pieces and fall apart on the floor.

So on an occasional Sunday night, you will find me overjoyed that a no so cold a case has been resolved, people are restored, and wrongs are righted. I know it is more fairy tale than truth, but it is also a reminder that there will come a time where all cold cases will be solved, all wrongs will be righted, and all of God’s children will be restored to grace, joy, and peace.
